I needed to strengthen the way I painted waves and discovered a painting called “Marine” (1908) by Norwegian artist, Thorolf Holmboe. He depicted waves and clouds in an abstract way that at the same time, gave a realistic feeling. The colors in Holmboe’s painting showed dramatic weather, which I had also in Newport, but the sun shined and glittered on the water (and seagulls tried to steal my lunch!).
Jeg trengte å styrke måten å male bølger og oppdaget et maleri som heter «Marine» (1908) av den norske kunstneren Thorolf Holmboe. Han skildret bølgene og skyene på en abstrakt måte som samtidig gav en realistisk følelse. Fargene på Holmboes maleri viste dramatisk vӕr, som jeg hadde også i Newport, men solen skinte og glimret på vannet (og måkene prøvde å stjele matpakken min!).
Chelsea E. Dill has always been interested in art since childhood and was often found with a paintbrush in her hand. After years of filling sketchbooks with drawings, Chelsea ventured into painting, especially having come from a family of artists.
